My name is Kayoko, a photographer, and I currently reside NYC metro area. I was born and grew up in Tohoku region, a northern part of Japan. With BA in communication, I started my career as an assistant editor of Surfin' Life magazine in Tokyo. Moved to New York City in 1998 to pursue editorial photography and studied basic photography at Fashion Institute of Technology.
Since graduating, I have been not only taking photographs, also writing for Japanese media such as an in-flight magazine, various travel guides & related publications as a travel journalist. Experienced in a small projects, my laid back and detail oriented nature yet professional approach put me in good stead to work collaboratively with other crews.
Love to eat, travel and discover something unusual in usual everyday life. “Brooklyn Styles”, a photo book styled-guidebook that illustrates lifestyle of 10 Brooklyn based creators by DIAMOND., Inc. in Japan, has been released as my first book in Nov. 2014. When I'm not photographing, I take care our little garden, cooking, or hiking in New Jersey or Upstate New York with my husband.
